a second Dalton in police custody after mortar fire

A second ‘Dalton’ was arrested after fireworks were fired at police during a CNews live broadcast with Jordan Bardella

A second “Dalton” was arrested after fireworks fireworks on the police, this Wednesday, November 24 in Lyon, during a live broadcast from CNews with Jordan Bardella (RN) in a district of the city, we learned Thursday from the prosecution.

A first member of this group of rappers from Lyon, known for his provocations against the authorities, had been taken into custody on Wednesday for “violence with a weapon on a person holding public authority”. His custody was extended Thursday, said Nicolas Jacquet, prosecutor of Lyon.

The “Dalton”, a group of rappers known to provoke the police, posted on their Instagram account a video showing three men in yellow and black striped outfits, as in the comic Lucky Luke, firing fireworks mortars . Their action took place on the sidelines of a demonstration organized by anti-fascist groups in Lyon, to protest against the participation of the president of the RN, Jordan Bardella, in the CNews program.

“I do not know if it is gunshots but it is at least grenades that we heard”, declared Mr. Bardella after the detonations, while demonstrators chanted: “free the Dalton, lock up Morandini” . “The goal was to make noise and protest alongside the crowd, with whom we shared the feeling that the political party represented by this individual is only hate”, explained the collective on Instagram.

The second edition of the program “Face à la Rue”, organized under the close surveillance of police and CRS, took place without further incident in the Guillotière district (3rd-7th arrondissement). In this program, Jean-Marc Morandini shows political figures what the Vincent Bolloré channel considers to be “lawless areas”. The first guest was the far-right polemicist Eric Zemmour, in Drancy in the Paris suburbs.

Broadcast blocked on Instagram

The Guillotière district, where a wild market has unfolded with various street trafficking arousing a strong feeling of insecurity among residents, has been at the center of the attention of the Lyon authorities for several months.

The city’s environmentalist mayor, Grégory Doucet, lamented that the program “caused disturbances to public order”, denouncing “the stigmatization” and “instrumentalisation” around this district.

The “Dalton” also indicated, Thursday morning, that Instagram had blocked their broadcast of live videos, while the collective had just announced that one of its members would “go directly to the police station to demand accountability.” Three members appear in court on Friday in Lyon for participating in an urban rodeo in October.
