Ted Lasso actually left the scene a little over a year ago, in May 2023, at the end of its third season. Since then, its co-creator Bill Lawrence initiated the (very successful) adaptation of Carl Hiaasen’s novel, Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn, available – just like Ted Lasso – on the Apple TV+ platform since Wednesday, August 14. Questioned by Télé-Loisirs about this new series, Bill Lawrence took the opportunity to return to this crazy hope of seeing again, one day, the cult coach played by Jason Sudeikis in a sequel to Ted Lasso.

So, will he come back or not, Ted? “This is what I can tell you,” Bill Lawrence reacts calmly, before continuing with unassailable sincerity, “If you ask any actor on the show, any writer, any producer, they’ll all tell you the same thing. We’re totally transparent. It’s 100% Jason’s doing. Nobody can tell you anything else. Jason’s not just the actor in Ted Lasso. He’s also the co-creator and one of the head writers. Doing Ted Lasso means, unlike us, uprooting his whole life and his whole family. It’s a huge responsibility to move to London with two young kids and everything. As a fan, if someone tells me we’re going back, I can’t help but be excited. So, every time I get asked that question, and I mean it, I say it’s Jason’s doing. We, the rest of the team, are aligned with what he wants to do.” Noted.
