The circumstances of the tragedy are still unclear. On the night between Saturday and Sunday, just before 3 am, a 20-year-old boy threw himself into the Rhone from the Wilson bridge in Lyon.
Immediately called, the firefighters carried out search operations during the night for several hours, which proved unsuccessful.
A new search system was set up this Sunday morning to try to find the young man. At noon the device was still being worked on.
Previous to Lyon
Unfortunately it is not the first time that a tragedy like this has happened at Lyon. In September 2019, a woman’s body was recovered from the Rhone at the Wilson bridge.
Most recently, last August, a 21-year-old drowned in the Rhone and was found dead in Confluence.
