All members, officials and fans of sports clubs, fan clubs and initiatives are called upon to become part of a huge “SPORTS UNITED” sign on September 7, 2024, 5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to make their club visible with colorful fan scarves and let the club colors shine on the stadium lawn.
The initiative is part of the project “Largest Fan Scarf in Saxony” by TeamSportSachsen and “SoGehtSächsisch” and is taking place in preparation for the Capital of Culture year 2025, in which the campaign is to be expanded even further. All participants decide for themselves whether they want to donate their fan scarf for the “Largest Fan Scarf in Saxony” at the TeamSportSachsen stand or just hold it up to the camera as part of the photo.
Clubs and initiatives are requested to register with a number of people by August 30, 2024 at: [email protected].

About SPORTS UNITED:
SPORTS UNITED celebrated its premiere on September 4, 2022. The new event format was organized in cooperation with the Chemnitz City Sports Association, several sports clubs, players and C³ Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH. The event is a project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH and is intended to bring together all people with a love of sport and exercise. The focus here is by no means on the performance character, but rather on the valuable sense of community, which on the one hand invites exchange with other people and on the other hand is able to overcome social divides. SPORTS UNITED is intended to offer many participants the opportunity to actively contribute to the Capital of Culture year through sport – whether as a club, private individual or recreational athlete. In 2024, the sporting event will take place for the first time in the stadium at
Gellertstrasse and will be expanded with SPORTY to create a large, unique sports day that will allow visitors to experience the Chemnitz sports scene in all its facets and bring sports enthusiasts together. SPORTY has already taken place five times in the stadium on Gellertstrasse since 2019 and in 2023 attracted over 5,000 sports enthusiasts to the Chemnitz stadium to try it out and take part.
