Al-Marsad newspaper: A recent US study revealed that a form of “vitamin B3” can increase the risk of serious diseases, including breast cancer.
According to the study, the commercial dietary supplement, nicotinamide riboside (NR), also known as vitamin B3, has been associated with benefits related to cardiovascular, metabolic and neurological health in previous studies.
The study, published in the journal Biosensors and Bioelectronics and conducted by the University of Missouri (MU), found that high levels of nicotinamide riboside (NR) could not only increase the risk of breast cancer, but also increase the risk of its spread. to other parts of the body, including the brain.
In this context, Professor Elena John, an associate professor of chemistry at the University of Missouri, said that some people take supplements (vitamins and supplements) because they automatically assume they only have health benefits.
“But very little is known about how they actually work, and this lack of knowledge has inspired us to study fundamental questions about how vitamins and supplements work in the body.”
