An Aeroflot passenger plane on a flight from Tel Aviv to Moscow was forced to change its altitude over the Black Sea on Friday because a NATO reconnaissance plane CL-600 crossed its course. This was announced yesterday by the Russian Civil Aviation Administration (Rosaviatsia), Reuters reported.
According to the announcement, the Aeroflot plane with 142 passengers had to be reduced by 2,000 feet (approx. 610 m) at the request of the traffic control, because another plane was crossing its path. The crew of the Russian plane had seen the other plane in the sky, according to a separate statement from Rosaviatsia, BTA reports.
The agency did not specify which NATO member state the reconnaissance plane was from. Moscow’s Defense Ministry said on Friday that Russian fighter jets had been lifted into the air to escort two US military reconnaissance planes over the Black Sea, Reuters reported.
