A Russian man is sent to jail for his daughter’s anti-war artwork.

“The verdict was announced today, but the defendant was not present because he ran away last night,” said Olga Djachuk, press secretary of the Yefremova district court of Tula region.

The representative of the state prosecution demanded that Moskalyov be sentenced to two years in prison, banned from using the Internet for three years, and his computer confiscated for the benefit of the state.

Moskalyov, who is raising his daughter alone, was tried for war-themed posts on the Odnoklassniki social network.

The case was brought last year after his daughter drew an anti-war picture at school.

Moskalyov was placed under house arrest, but his daughter was placed in a shelter.

Last April, Masha Moskalyova had drawn Russian and Ukrainian flags with the inscriptions “No to war” and “Glory to Ukraine” in the drawing class at school. The school principal called the police an hour later.

In April, the girl’s father was issued an administrative protocol for “discrediting” the army – not for the child’s drawing, but for the post on the “Odnoklassniki” social network. In December, a criminal case was initiated under the same article. Moskalyov said that he had nothing to do with the “Odnoklassniki” records and admitted that his account might have been hacked.

He was arrested in early March, but later placed under house arrest.

His daughter was placed in the rehabilitation center “Junostj”.

On April 6, the Yefremov inter-district court of Tula region will consider the case regarding the restriction of Masha Moskalyova’s father’s rights.
