A Russian general dies in battle in Ukraine

The second largest city in Russia, St. Petersburg, delivering sad news. A Russian general has reportedly died fighting in Ukraine.

Reported CNNSunday (17/4/2022), the city expressed its condolences for the deputy commander of the 8th Army Russia, Major General Vladimir Frolov, who died in Ukraine this week. This was revealed by the mayor’s press office in a statement.

Mayor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov attended the funeral at the historic Serafimovskoe Cemetery on Saturday local time.

“Today we say goodbye to true heroes,” Beglov said in the statement.

“Vladimir Petrovich Frolov died heroically in battle with Ukrainian nationalists. He sacrificed his life so that the children, women and old people in Donbas would no longer hear the explosions of the bombs,” he said.

“They stopped waiting for death and left the house, saying goodbye as if it was the last time,” he said.

CNN could not confirm the circumstances of Frolov’s death. Several high-ranking Russian officers have died in Ukraine.
