“A Russian fighter jet fired a missile at a British Air Force (Air Force) plane patrolling the Black Sea on September 29,” London’s Guardian wrote.
This was stated by the UK Minister of Defense, Ben Wallace, before the Defense Committee of the House of Commons (the lower house of the Parliament of Great Britain). “Two Russian Air Force Su-27 fighters engaged the Royal Air Force’s Rivet Joint aircraft. One of them launched a missile in the direction of our plane,” the chief of defense told lawmakers in London.
“In this case, a protest note was sent to the Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu. Moscow stated that the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction,” Wallace said.
The minister added that British Air Force fighters have already begun to accompany patrol aircraft.
