The Tango Market performance was supposed to be a lively prelude to Retrojengi’s tour. Instead, the tour ended like a wall.

An entertainment legend Danny81, was stunned to hear Frederikin and the outcome of the program office dispute. As a result, he Erkki Liikanenthe backing singers and musicians of the tour were left without work.

– I heard about Frederik’s decision a couple of weeks before it was told to the public. It was a big disappointment, Danny admits.

He is now telling Iltalehti his theory about what actually led to Frederik’s departure.

– When things were agreed in the spring, the program agency Central Line Entertainment promised to sell us gigs for the summer before the tour. So Frederik was under the belief that the program agency would sell gigs to the whole group and to us individually. They didn’t sell out a single show. The only joint performance was at the Tango market.

– Frederik, who spends a large part of the year in the United States or Spain, probably hoped for sales and more work for the summer. When it didn’t happen despite the promises, Frederik got angry and decided to raise the price of the tour.

Frederik told Iltalehti that he demanded an increase to the 2,000 euro gig fee because he also had to pay the musicians’ salaries. Danny explains that Frederik suddenly wanted to bring his own musicians to the gigs, whose salaries he had to pay out of his own pocket.

– The Goldies band has specialists in 60s music, and my conductor would have joined Petri Kokkothe man who has produced Frederik’s recent records. Under his leadership, there would have been sufficient expertise for the tour, and there would have been no need for additional players, says Danny calmly.

Retrojeng’s concert tour was canceled in August. Central Line Entertainment

Erkki Liikanen told Iltalehte that the gig fee of 2,000 euros was quite enough for him. Danny also takes the same position. According to Iskelmätähti, the tour manager Jive Väänänen negotiated the gig fees with the artists and the program agency, which were locked in the spring.

– Central Line could not raise Frederik’s salary because the same price had been agreed for several artists. It was terribly inconvenient and embarrassing for all of us who had booked those autumn days for the tour. Central Line refused to raise Frederik’s pay, and he decided to leave, Danny describes.

On August 21, the program agency Central Line Entertainment announced that it was canceling the ten-show tour completely, because a replacement for Frederik could not be found due to the fast schedule.

No marketing?

In retrospect, Danny also sees room for improvement in the operation of the program office.

– I didn’t see any kind of marketing from Central Line Entertainment about the tour. When the idea came up, we went on a TV show together to talk about it. After that, the tour was not sold, and there was no marketing effort from the program office. It was just assumed that this would go well.

Iltalehti reached out to a representative of Central Line Entertainment and asked for a comment on the claims made in the article. So far, the company has not returned to the matter.

At the moment, Danny’s autumn gig calendar is empty in that respect and he is rebuilding the whole thing one gig at a time. He already has a calm attitude to what happened and says things to his senses on his own.

Danny fondly remembers the Aikansa idolit tour organized a couple of years ago, which he says was a model example of good teamwork and a successful show. At that time there were, among others, Pirkko Mannola, Lasse Liemola and Kai Lindas well as Markku Veijalainen.

– I wanted Retrojeng’s tour to be as great and good-natured as the idols of their time, he says.

Even for Retrojeng’s tour, a dream team of enthusiastic industry professionals was assembled, but as Danny knows as a concertgoer, luck is not always at work.

– We would have liked the audience to have been able to experience the gigs, but this time it happened like this, he sums up.
