a restaurant offers a portion of fries at 170 euros

Serendipity 3 on New York’s Upper East Side has set the world record for the most expensive portion of fries.

With such a price, we are almost certain that gourmets will not leave a crumb… On July 12, the Serendipity 3 restaurant indeed made a very remarkable entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The latter is indeed the restaurant that offers the most expensive portion of fries in the world.

170 euros for Champagne fries

Of course, for such a price, we hope that we will not only have a few potatoes cooked banally in an oil bath … The chefs of Serendipity 3 have indeed coated these few potatoes with ingredients that can justify a such rate.

Joe Calderone and Fredrick Schoen-Kiewert have indeed brought a little nobility to this universal recipe. It all starts with choice of potatoes: Chipperbecks produced in upstate New York. Potatoes which are blanched in a bath of white vinegar straight from Champagne-Ardenne associated with another key ingredient of the region: Dom Pérignon champagne.

The second step is to immerse the fries in goose fat before sprinkling them with Guérande salt and black Italian truffles. Truffle butter and truffle oil are also included in the preparation. To add a little luxury to the dish, the fries are served with gold powder… Everything is served with a mushroom and truffle sauce.

A restaurant that accumulates records

If you are very hungry, you can accompany your fries with a hamburger which is also registered as the most expensive in the world with a price of 250 euros. To finish in style and make you a Guinness Book menu, Serendipity 3 also offers a milkshake for 845 euros (again, you won’t find a more expensive one elsewhere). The restaurant holds a dozen similar records.

If you thought that with such prices, the clientele would be rather rare, think again … You have to be patient, because there is no reservation slot available before 8 weeks minimum.
