The art object “Savpatība”, which was opened on July 15 at the Latgale Embassy “Gors” in Rēzekne, is a musical message created for several years by the conductor and artistic director of the Latvian Radio Choir Sigvards Kļava and director Roberts Rubīns. The peculiar mirror objects invite you to see and hear yourself, as well as to reveal the uniqueness of our country through the people of different regions of Latvia who are singing and playing various instruments.
“Creating this was a big milestone in my life, because we started this project seven years ago. And it is a very emotional moment with many such important things in life and art, to which you have attached and given a lot of your work, ”opening the sounding environmental art object“ Peculiarity ”at the Latgale Embassy“ Gors ”in Rēzekne, multimedia installations shared their feelings author and conductor of the idea Sigvards Kļava.
“Peculiarity” invites you to see and hear yourself – through peculiar and especially multifaceted mirror objects, everyone here has the opportunity to enjoy the interaction of culture and nature in one place. Depending on the location and route of travel, visitors can hear individual instruments and voices in various combinations.
The objects sound Latvian and peculiar, revealing various dialects and songs in Latvian, Latgalian, and Liv. “That’s what we are, and that’s the idea – to show our common community, because the initial idea was to show it to people in the world who don’t know where Latvia is, but know what Latvian culture is,” explained Sigvards Kļava.
“Today, what we hear here is also a great miracle and experience for me, because one thing is what is in the studio and what we imagine, but each environment is with its own mood, with its atmosphere, with its mentality, with its noise .
And I am also very interested in what will be on the seashore, I will be interested in what will be in the castle ruins, because it is different everywhere. And I would very much like to hope that this format is not like a concert, but that it fits into every environment and that we do not disturb each other. Well, now, I feel that little by little people are entering that atmosphere and, to put it in a modern way, they understand the rules of the game. And so it is also meant that a person can come here for five minutes, twenty-five and forty minutes and he should belong to this atmosphere. And if we talk about the musical path, then as in drama, it has its ups and downs, ”the idea was revealed by Sigvards Kļava.
In the “self” alternately and alternately, and in intangible interactions in the mirrors, you see yourself here, as well as Aleksandrs Maijer from Krāslava, Kristīne Kārkli, Edgars Kārkli, Laima Jansons, Liena Skrebinska, Ligita Spridzāne from Upīte, Ilga Reizniece and others in total about 20 artists , as Sigvards Kļava calls them this time, – prodigies: “For two years we were looking for, we went on expeditions to all regions of Latvia and in different environments – in houses of culture, churches and folklore groups. And then this collage came out of it all. These are the songs that, at this point, I think were part of that overall performance. ”
“Hopefully, people will not stand, but will try to move, look closer in the mirror and everywhere.
That’s why mirrors have a lot of edges, because in every place we stand, we see a completely different environment, and these singers fit in between us. And this is the idea that the singer is not in any other dimension. Here, looking in the mirrors, we see that the listener is sitting next to him and singing here. That is why mirrors, ”said Sigvards Kļava.
From July 16 to 24, “Savpatība” can be visited in Rēzekne, surrounded by a river near the Latgale embassy “Gors”, then it will travel to Limbaži castle ruins, but at the end of August to Rīga, Arkadia Park.
