The Vitebsk prosecutor’s office reported that the court agreed with the prosecutors’ demand to put a 34-year-old man in a colony for two years. He was accused of posting photos on social media.
According to the Belta agency, from September 2014 to March 2021, the young man published 10 photos with white-red-white symbols on his pages on Instagram and VKontakte.
“The defendant committed this act within a year after the imposition of penalties for violating the procedure for organizing or holding mass events under Article 24.23 of the Code of Administrative Offenses,” the prosecutor’s office explained.
The Vitebsk prosecutor’s office considered that the man had to obtain “appropriate permission from the executive and administrative bodies” to publish these photos. The department claims that they warned the resident of Vitebsk three times about responsibility. After the man has not restricted access to the photo, we will initiate a criminal case against him under article 342-2 of the Criminal Code.
Article 342-2 of the Criminal Code. Repeated violation of the procedure for organizing or holding mass events is punishable by arrest, or restriction of liberty for up to three years, or imprisonment for the same period.
A court in Vitebsk sentenced the man to two years in a penal colony. However, the verdict has not entered into force and can be challenged.
