A resident of Saceruela creates a safe humanitarian corridor to Ukraine and asks for help with transportation

There are two very important things to keep in mind when it comes to humanitarian work. The first, obviously, is to collect as much help as possible. The second is to find a secure corridor so that all contributions reach a reliable recipient who is responsible for their distribution. Jose Antonio Morales, a resident of Saceruela, knows this well, since he has worked on tasks of this type in countries such as Haiti, the Dominican Republic or Peru, and now he does so with the NGO Humanitarian Mission in Ukraine.

And our friend Jose Antonio has achieved the most difficult, because through the group of businessmen BNI ACR Productivity of Ciudad Real he has obtained enough donations to fill up to fifteen trailers with warm clothing, non-perishable food or diapers. In addition, he has recently traveled to Ukraine, specifically about 50 kilometers from the border with Romania, to establish a safe humanitarian corridor. There, at -4 and -5 degrees, with ice and snow, he contacted organizations capable of managing all the aid that arrives, thus avoiding the saturated border with Poland.

But there is a problem. Or rather, a problem. And it is that Jose Antonio is being unable to find the appropriate means of transport to transfer all the aid that the BNI group already accumulates and that is being stored in a warehouse in Pozuelo de Calatrava. As he has explained to this digital, finding a truck today is an impossible mission. So much so that an airplane would be even more affordable. And the idea of the train has even been considered, although the logistics in this last case would be difficult to assume.

The truckers’ strike, the high price of fuel and the proximity of the war are greatly complicating the task of the Humanitarian Mission, which is already looking for alternatives. So far, one truck has been able to travel and there is another one that will start the journey shortly. But there is still a long way to go, since it is necessary to transport around 250 more pallets and, for this reason, this Saturday there will be a solidarity event with music from the 90s in the Sala Zahora in Ciudad Real with free admission. The collection will go directly to cover shipping costs, trucks, gasoline and drivers, while an account number (ES10 0019 0079 66 4010027836) has also been set up for donations. Good luck!
