The Montana District Court remanded a 27-year-old Berkovitsa resident in custody for an international crime in Germany.

According to a European arrest warrant issued by the court in the city of Weissenfels, Germany, on May 1, 2019, in a parking lot in the Burverbeck district, C. D. A. set fire to boxes placed under an Opel Astra car owned by the Bulgarian citizen. IB, as a result of which the car also caught fire.

On December 7 this year, the wanted CDA was found by the police in Berkovitsa and detained. The District Court has received a request from the District Prosecutor’s Office – Montana to take a measure of restraint “Detention in custody” of C. D. A. in order to ensure the implementation of the European arrest warrant and extradition proceedings in Germany. After reviewing the evidence in the case and hearing C.A.D., who requested a lighter measure of restraint, the court imposed a detention order on him.

Although he has a clean criminal record, the man is engaged in logging, is often absent from his permanent address and is in danger of absconding, the court said.

The case was heard on video link with the Prison in the town of Vratsa.

The ruling can be appealed within 3 days before the Court of Appeal – Sofia.
