54-year-old Yuzjan Rashid from Asenovgrad bought a watermelon for BGN 250 in the mevlid auction in the village of Rusalsko, Arda. To the great surprise of those present, the resident of Assenovgrad, with roots in the village of Gaidartsi, did not take the 15-kilogram fruit, but donated it back to the organizers for bidding.
During the weekend, the traditional mevlid for health and prosperity was held in the “Yailya” area, near Rusalko. After the religious ritual, an auction was held for honey, homemade cow butter, melon, koch and meat. For a kilogram of homemade cow butter and natural honey, the sum reached BGN 250.
They were bought by Ahmed Mahmud from Asenovgrad, who again donated them to the organizers. The butcher from Gorno Prahovo, Ayhan Shaban, bought a goat for 250 BGN. The funds collected from the auction were 4,650 BGN, and 2,813 BGN were collected from donations. The total amount (7,463 BGN) will be used to organize the mevlid next year.
