A remake of “The Last of Us” is said to be under development | MovieZine

The beloved Playstation game “The Last of Us” apparently has a remake underway, almost ten years since the original.

Sony is apparently not content with the success of the two “The Last of Us”games and that there will be a TV series of the franchise on HBO.

The article states that the Visual Arts Service Group, which otherwise usually assists other studios with the development of Playstation games, started the project a few years ago. However, the project was considered too expensive and was never officially supported by Sony, which eventually asked Naughty Dog to develop the remake with the Visual Arts Service Group.

Visual Arts Service Group apparently wanted to do a remake of the few years older “Uncharted”, but Sony decided instead to invest in “The Last of Us”.

In my opinion, it is a very strange decision, as it is a game that does not necessarily need a remake and it was not very long since it was released. It’s probably about money, as the series has sold well and won great prices.

The report also says that the studio Bend wanted to make a sequel to “Days Gone”, but that the long development time and the half-baked reception made Sony back. There should also be a concern among employees at Playstation developers that Sony focuses too much on selling blockbusters, instead of daring to take creative risks.

We will simply see if the remake of “The Last of Us” comes, but personally I would have liked to have seen Naughty Dog do something completely new instead.

What do you think of the plans for a remake of “The Last of Us”?
