Yet throughout these months, it has been necessary to “find a way to navigate turbulent waters and uncharted waters,” she explains. “The cancer experience is complex, frightening and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” continues the princess.

“My road to recovery and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she said. “However, I look forward to returning to work and undertaking public activities in the coming months when I am able.”
Number of rumors
Kate, beloved by the British and who appeared almost every day in the press, suddenly disappeared from the media landscape after Christmas 2023. She had been hospitalized in January for “abdominal surgery”. The palace had indicated that she would probably not resume her official duties before Easter.

All sorts of rumors had appeared on social media. And at the end of March, she herself revealed, in a moving video, that she had cancer, without specifying its nature. Alone, on a bench, visibly tired, she spoke of a “huge shock.” Another blow for the royal family, since King Charles III had also announced that he had cancer at the beginning of February.

Kate first appeared in public on June 15 for the Sovereign’s Birthday Parade, where she waved to the crowd from the balcony of Buckingham Palace alongside the royal family.
“I stay with you”
Prince William’s wife was then warmly cheered by the public who came in large numbers to attend the military parade “Trooping the Colour” (Salute to the colours) organised every June. Her last public appearance was at the beginning of July at Wimbledon, where she presented the trophy to the winner of the tennis tournament, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. There again, she was applauded at length.
In her message Monday, the princess expressed her “gratitude” for all the support she has received. “The kindness, empathy and compassion from everyone has been truly humbling,” she said. Kate concluded with a word for those “who are on their own cancer journey.” “I stand with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness can come light, so let that light shine,” she said.
Charles III, 75, resumed his public engagements in the spring after suspending them for several months. He is due to make an official visit to Australia and Samoa this autumn with his wife Queen Camilla.
