A record budget is to go to highways, bypasses and railways in 2025 – JV Press

Czechia – The SFDI committee approved the draft budget of the fund, which calculates a total amount of 160.3 billion crowns for next year. The money will go towards the continuation of the construction of new highways and Class I roads, the modernization of railways and the provision of repairs and routine maintenance. The budget also envisages the involvement of money from European funds.

Thanks to the pro-investment budget, we can not only continue with the record number of projects under construction, ensure maintenance and repairs, continue with the construction of the European railway safety equipment and start other strategic constructions. For example, the completion of the D35, which is currently the most under construction highway in our country, can continue. At the end of this year, 64 kilometers of this important parallel connection between Bohemia and Moravia will be under construction at once.” says Minister of Transport Martin Kupka.

The SFDI budget is proposed as pro-investment, with investment expenditures of 110.4 billion crowns and non-investment expenditures of 49.9 billion crowns (repairs, maintenance and operation of transport infrastructure, operational activities of investor organizations).

Out of the total amount of the budget, the largest amount of funds allocated historically is 80.7 billion crowns for the Directorate of Roads and Highways and 62.7 billion crowns for the Railway Administration to cover investment and non-investment actions.
It is currently under construction together 291.1 kilometers of highways and Class I roadsnamely 226.1 kilometers of highways and 65 kilometers of mostly city bypasses. Next year, construction will begin on other sections of the Karlovy Vary D6 highway, as well as the D11 highway from Jaroměř to Trutnov or the D35 highway in the Úlibice – Hořice section.

For railways, the funds will be used, for example, to continue the modernization and construction of the line from Prague to Kladno, railway infrastructure and the preparation of high-speed lines.
