He spoke for 13 minutes. Emmanuel Macron spoke this Monday evening in a speech to the French. We take stock of the various measures discussed.

Emmanuel Macron had a word of entry for the pension reform. He claims to “hear the anger” linked to the reform. He recalls that it is necessary to “produce more wealth for the country”. He regrets that “a consensus could not be found”. He evokes a “anger in the face of a job that no longer allows a good living for too many French people, in the face of an increasing cost of living.”

The Head of State gives himself 100 days of “appeasement, unity of ambition and action in the service of France”. He gives an appointment to the French on July 14 to make an initial assessment. Before that, the Prime Minister should specify the roadmap to come next week.

During this period, he set himself three projects, in particular work. Emmanuel Macron wants to initiate a reform of the vocational high school so that “the greatest number of young people have access to qualifying training”. He also wants to build a “new pact for life at work”, the goal: “improve income”, “advance careers” or even “improve working conditions”.

  • Unclog emergencies

Another major project mentioned by Emmanuel Macron: health. The President says he wants to “deeply rebuild the health system” and promises by the end of next year “to have relieved all our emergency services”.

  • Better teacher compensation

The Head of State is also betting on education and school with changes “from the start of the school year” with in particular better remuneration for teachers.

“Teachers will be better paid, students will receive more support in French and mathematics, as well as for homework, and will practice more sports at school, parents who will see the systematic replacement of absent teachers”

  • Recruitment of magistrates

Finally, Emmanuel Macron confirms the announcements made by Gérald Darmanin a few weeks ago and indicates that he wants to recruit “more than 10,000 magistrates” and the “creation of 200 new gendarmerie brigades in our countryside”. Announcements are expected for the month of May regarding justice.
