The replacement of the fine bubble membrane diffusers of the municipality’s wastewater treatment plant, by the company Suez France, took place from Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 June. Thanks to the good coordination of the various trades – a team of divers specializing in diving in purification stations, a crane operator, a 35 t lifting crane, sewer cleaners and technicians in purification stations -, the The work to replace the air diffusers went very well without incident, in just four days.
The work consisted of removing the four submerged ramps, dismantling the old diffusers, cleaning them (removal of tow and sludge inside the ramps) and installing the new diffusers.
After carrying out the watertightness tests and cleaning the bottom of the biological basin, the ramps were replaced in their initial location. Sébastien Gauthier, treatment technician, told us that the replacement of the diffusers will allow better oxygenation in the biological treatment, better energy efficiency and therefore a reduction in the carbon footprint.
