Barcelona fans can breathe a sigh of relief. One of the club’s newcomers will be able to debut at Camp Nou.
Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Emerson have found their way to the Catalan capital in recent weeks. The latter, however, will have a chance to debut in a maroon and navy blue leotard.
“Mundo Deportivo” reports that the Brazilian is not treated the same as the rest because he defended Betis last season. The transfer within the league did not result in his withdrawal from the competition, so nothing prevents the 22-year-old from playing for Barcelona.
Still, the problem with the other three players has not been resolved. The club plans to cut back the wage budget in order to register Memphis Depay, according to reports from the Catalan media.
The Sergio Aguero issue could wait as the Argentine has suffered an injury and will be unable to play for approximately three months. Eric Garcia, on the other hand, has only just returned from the Olympics, so he would rather be introduced slowly anyway.
Joan Laporta makes Depay’s case a priority. The Dutchman recruited from Olympique Lyon is to be the central figure in Barcelona’s offensive line following the departure of Leo Messi. Barcelona will start the season on Sunday with a match against Real Sociedad.
