European and developed Asian cities continue to top the ranking, while North American and Chinese cities remain relatively moderate.
The rating of the most expensive cities for living in the world has been compiled – topped by Tel Aviv. Rating published Economist Intelligence Unit Wednesday, December 1st.
Tel Aviv climbed up from fifth place in 2020 and topped the rankings for the first time. The city rallied in the table due to the strengthening of the shekel against the dollar, as well as rising transport and food prices.
At the same time, European and developed Asian cities continue to dominate the top of the rankings, while North American and Chinese cities remain relatively moderate. The cheapest cities are in the Middle East, Africa and poorer parts of Asia.
The second stage was shared by Paris and Singapore, while Zurich and Hong Kong round out the top five. Next in the ranking are New York, Geneva, Copenhagen, Los Angeles and Osaka.
In turn, Damascus, Syria, remained the cheapest city in the world to live in.
Note that Kiev is in 88th place in the world, having moved up 13 positions.
As a reminder, analysts have previously updated ranking of the most vulnerable economies in the world… Ukraine rose 15 positions in the corresponding list compared to 2018. Its reserves have grown to nearly $ 30 billion.
