A Rare Renault Duster Listed for Sale in Romania: What Makes it Special?

Apparently just another Duster listed for sale, but the one I found was never available in Romania. What makes this car so special?

Dacia Duster, the beloved SUV of the domestic manufacturer, was and is very popular among European customers and beyond. Now in its second generation, with the third one about to be launched in the coming months, Dacia Duster was the choice for many customers who were looking for a compact SUV, but capable enough in off-road, which not cost a lot of money.

In Europe, the car was sold with both diesel and petrol engines, with some also having an LPG installation fitted from the factory. Manual transmissions are the most popular, and can be combined with all-wheel drive. The Duster also got dual-clutch automatic transmissions, but they could never be paired with four-wheel drive. We can say that the range of engines has always been diversified, with multiple configurations for customers to choose from.

A different Duster is listed on the second-hand car market in Romania

The Duster SUV was not only sold under the logo of the domestic Dacia brand, but also under the Renault logo, but not on the European market. As a rule, these cars were sold in Central and South America, but also in Russia, with larger engines than we had available on the European market.

Such a car is for sale on Autovit at the time of writing this article and we want to present some differences, compared to the cars we received in Romania.

The biggest of them is the engine, as this Renault Duster uses a 2.0 liter petrol engine. Even though the listing data specifies a 1.3-liter engine, the description left by the owner revealed that the car is indeed equipped with the 2.0-liter 143 hp engine. These cars also used a classic 4-speed automatic transmission with a converter. The car is also equipped with all-wheel drive.

Of course, the car has Renault badges, a different hood and a changed grille, plus some interior differences. A Dacia Duster would have round air vents, but this Renault Duster has the dash that appeared on the Dacia Duster with the new logo, the one with horizontal air vents. It’s also a two-tone black and beige interior.

As for the price, the owner is asking 17,900 euros for this Renault Duster with 19,650 kilometers on board. Would you buy this car, quite rare in Romania, or would you buy a brand new Dacia Duster?
