A rare phenomenon, all the planets of the solar system are visible together in the night sky

KOMPAS. com – Every planet on solar system visible in the night sky simultaneously on Wednesday (12/28/2022). This is regarded by experts as a rare astronomical event.

Uranus, which lies between Mars and Jupiter, and Neptune, which lies between Saturn and Jupiter, can be seen with binoculars or a telescope until the end of the year.

The eight planets appeared just 1.5 degrees apart on Wednesday night and will reach their conjunction or closest point on Thursday at 2100 GMT.

Planets can be seen in the lower west, with the clearest sightings expected about 30 minutes after sunset, with Venus disappearing about 40 minutes later, every day until the end of the year.

Gianluca Masi, an astronomer with the Virtual Telescope Project in Italy, told Newsweek that all the planets can be seen in the solar system just after sunset.

“It happens from time to time, but it’s always a spectacular sight,” he added.

Mercury is the hardest planet to see without magnification because it is in the brightest part of the sky. However, the planet can be seen close to Venus where it is much brighter.

The rest of the planets align due east, with Jupiter appearing brightest of all the stars and high in the southern sky.

Jupiter shouldn’t be visible around midnight. However, Mars is visible all night after rising in the east just before sunset Wednesday and will appear redder and brighter than most stars.

Saturn, the second largest planet, will be golden when it appears in the southwest after dark every day until 2023.

Saturn is set around 2000 GMT on Wednesday, while the moon should appear as a crescent between Jupiter and Jupiter.
