On February 28, a rare type of meteorite was seen in the skies of the United Kingdom and Northern Europe. A meteorite weighing almost 300 grams fell and was found in Gloucestershire, UK. The meteorite fell in the family’s yard, on the driveway. The researchers explained that the meteorite was formed from carbon chondritis. This is one of the most primitive and intact materials in the solar system. It contains organic materials and amino acids. The Natural History Museum in London said the meteorite fragments found were compared with rock samples from space missions. “I was shocked to see it, and I knew right away that it was a rare meteorite and a completely unique event,” said science researcher Richard Greenwood. There are about 65,000 known meteorites on Earth. Only 1206 have fallen from the sky, and only 51 of them are carbonaceous chondrites.
