In the USA, a real automotive treasure was accidentally discovered – a rare Duesenberg J of 1931. A luxurious convertible has not been on the road for half a century. About the exclusive car told on Youtube channel Nobody’s Show.
The convertible was found by Duesenberg J collector and restorer Doug Prey – his family now owns the rights to the famous brand. The owner of the car called him and said that the convertible had been in her garage for more than 50 years.
Doug Prey immediately came to the woman and established that she owned a 1931 Duesenberg J with a custom Murphy body. Only 25 of these convertibles were produced.
The car was well preserved, but its rear bumper had to be removed, because it did not fit in the garage. They bought the car and plan to restore its engine, and then put it on one of the retro shows. After that, Duesenberg will go for restoration. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of such a convertible in good condition is one million dollars.
Duesenbergs were the American answer to Rolls-Royce and Bentley and were considered among the most expensive and luxurious in the world in the 1930s. Among their owners are millionaires, kings and Hollywood stars. As a rule, duesenberg bodies were ordered with exclusive design.
The executive Duesenberg J was produced in 1928-1937 and only 445 of these cars were assembled with a 6.7-liter eight with 265 hp. With. The maximum speed of the model is 185 km/h.
