A video of a raccoon dog getting stuck while crossing a frozen railroad track in sub-zero weather is a hot topic as an unusual arctic cold wave hits Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula.
One day last month, when the temperature dropped to minus 12 degrees Celsius in the southeastern United States, railroad worker Neil Mullis was on a night patrol looking at the tracks and spotted a raccoon.
However, the raccoon was sitting in a position as if hugging the track, only turning his head and not moving his body at all. A raccoon passing through a railroad tracks freezes instantly in the cold weather, and his body clings to the tracks.
Mullis brought warm water and carefully rescued the raccoon, and the tracks where the raccoon left were strewn with plucked hairs, showing signs of hardship.
Mullis’ raccoon video received a hot response, recording more than 4.1 million views on TikTok alone.
Overseas netizens who watched the video sent compliments and thanks to Mullis, saying, “Thank you for saving the raccoon.”
