The ball is still in the Bundesliga. But it’s not that quiet off the pitch at the moment. The summer break is filled with rumours, transfers and managerial changes. But what does SC Freiburg actually do?

If you look at the Instagram appearances of the Bundesliga clubs these days, you can see that a lot is happening there. Bayern introduce new signing Mané. Eintracht Frankfurt places the new personality Mario Götze prominently. Mainz welcome their “new” Maxim Leitsch. And the sports club? He posts a picture of the stadium with a view of the Freiburg Cathedral. A still life.

The strenght is to be found in serenity

One could almost think that the Freiburgers want nothing to do with the hustle and bustle during the summer break. You definitely don’t want to spoil your well-deserved break with activity. The last few weeks of the past season were at least upsetting enough. In Breisgau, the (cuckoo) clocks tick a little differently. No excitement like Hinteregger. No “tug of war” as with Lewandowski. Kyereh swap almost certain

But at second glance something happens. Just with less noise. The move from St.Pauli professional Daniel-Kofi Kyereh to the Black Forest seems almost certain. Bundesliga promoted Werder Bremen would have liked to have had him too – but apparently the Breisgau team won the tough fight for the attacking midfielder.

SC Freiburg and transfer rumors

Various media also report Freiburg’s interest in Croatian national player Martin Erlic. The central defender could fill the gap left by Schlotterbeck’s departure alongside returnee Matthias Ginter.

But someone else could also be considered for this post: Chrislain Matsima from AS Monaco is said to be looking for a new club. As the French press agency RMC reports, both the sports club and Dortmund are interested in the 20-year-old central defender.

An even bigger coup could succeed with the commitment of the Italian shooting star Wilfried Gnonto. Although the club only responded to an SWR inquiry with one thing: “We don’t comment on rumors as a matter of principle”, but they have been very stubborn for several weeks.

Stains finish?

In addition to newcomers, there is also speculation about possible departures. Mark Flekken is said to no longer necessarily be between the posts for Freiburg next season. At the end of May, the Dutch newspaper “De Limburger” reported that Ajax Amsterdam was interested in the 29-year-old. The club is said to have even officially inquired about the contract situation at SC Freiburg.

A few days ago there was a new rumour: As the British “The Sun” announced, the English first division club FC Brentford should also be interested in Freiburg’s goalkeeper. A move to the Premier League seems unlikely, however, as Brentford already have their first-choice goalkeeper in David Raya. So should Flekken only provide competition? That would certainly not be enough for the Freiburg number 1.

Quiet work in the background

Something is also happening at SC Freiburg. Backstage. Not loud like FC Bayern or sensational like Eintracht, but quiet and deliberate. In addition: Many personnel questions were already clarified during the season. Petersen’s contract extension, Schlotterbeck’s departure and Ginter’s signing.
