FC Twente closes the Eredivisie on Saturday as a shared leader, next to sc Heerenveen and Feyenoord. The Tukkers brightened the debut of trainer Ron Jans with a problem-free victory over Fortuna Sittard, which had little to say in the Grolsch Veste.
Both teams had undergone a metamorphosis during the summer months and started the season with a new trainer. The opening phase went a lot more quickly for Jans than for Kevin Hofland: FC Twente already ran to 1-0 after ten minutes. Queensy Menig and youth player Jayden Oosterwolde completed the Fortuna defense with one combination, Menig had free passage and found the far corner.

Wout Brama had already had a great chance of 1-0 at that time. After the opening goal of Mening, Ajax mercenary Danilo could also have scored, while Emil Hansson on the other hand smelled the equalizer. FC Twente is now facing a tough away match: the provisional fellow leader Feyenoord will be the opponent in De Kuip on 20 September. Fortuna Sittard may take revenge at home one day earlier against sc Heerenveen.
