Passengers and air service personnel on an Avianca flight were shocked, thanks to the fact that what apparently was a pyrotechnic balloon got stuck in one of the plane’s engines while it was landing at El Dorado International Airport.
The journalist Sonia Rodríguez was the one who recorded what happened, this December 31 at night, in some videos that she shared on her social networks, and in which you can see how the balloon and pieces of cloth hang from the plane’s engine.
“At 8:15 pm an Avianca plane arriving at El Dorado airport hit what would appear to be a pyrotechnic balloon … Please not today or ever: celebration and gunpowder are not the same,” said the communicator who uploaded a video with evidence of the event.

The alarming situation that the journalist recorded reflects the importance of the request that has been made to the public for years about the irresponsible handling of gunpowder that, mainly in December celebrations, has left hundreds of children and adults injured.
During the New Year’s celebration, other similar incidents were reported due to the manipulation of these gunpowder balloons in the presence of children, and although fortunately in none of the cases injuries were reported, it does not cease to disturb the fact that some people have not attended the already called the prohibitions that the authorities have made to avoid precisely this type of incidents.

The Bogotá mayor’s office had the objective that no person will be injured by the use of gunpowder during Christmas 2020, for this reason from December 1, 2020 and until the second week of January 2021, the Regulatory Center of Urgencies and Emergencies, the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences and 117 emergency services of clinics and hospitals in the city must report, on a mandatory basis, through the Public Health Surveillance System, every case of gunpowder burn.
Although this objective was not achieved, the country did show a significant reduction in the number of people burned with gunpowder in relation to previous years. As reported by the National Institute of Health this Good Night there were an average of 338 victims due to the use of these devices.
“The reported figure is lower by 51% percent compared to the number of injured reported in Christmas 2019, in which 107 people were injured on December 24 and 25,” the National Institute of Health said in its report. .
At the moment, the updated report for the next few days is being awaited to know if the public has complied with the recommendations given by the different authorities of the country to a greater extent.
