A public inquiry to unveil the metrocable in Grenoble

This is one of the great projects to relieve congestion at the entrance to the Grenoble metropolis: the metrocable. It aims to connect Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux to Fontaine by 2025, crossing the scientific peninsula of Grenoble, but above all many urban breaks: two rivers (the Drac and the Isère), the A480 motorway or the railway linking Lyon and Grenoble. The public inquiry begins in January 2023.

« This metrocable will fully complement the existing network, linking two tram lines and linking the two banks “, explains Laurent Thoviste, Fontaine’s assistant and adviser to the Joint Union of Mobility of the Grenoble Area (SMMAG). The area has experienced rapid development in recent years, SMMAG estimates it can carry 4,600 people a day.
