A pub closes because of a “resistant minority”

A microbrewery in Neuville took the decision yesterday to suspend the activities of its beer pub because of a recalcitrant clientele who persists in not following the rules imposed by public health.

L’Esprit de Clocher, a brewery inaugurated in 2015, announced through a Facebook post that Friday evening “was the height”.

“A trying end of the evening and people who, for obscure reasons, do not want to follow the instructions” thus forced the co-owners Éric Blouin and Nathalie Simard to stop serving drinks on site.

“We simply no longer accept that our staff suffer from insults, derogatory comments and intolerance”, expresses Mr.me Simard in his publication.

If the majority of the clientele is “sympathetic, understanding and benevolent”, the management of the establishment blames a “resistant minority” who, by frequenting the place, “undermines the work climate”.

“Every time I leave our Pub, I worry about our service staff. Such dedicated and kind people. Humans who do not deserve this treatment, ”says Nathalie Simard.

The owners say they are taking this “step back” to prevent staff from “leaving [sa] health ”. The opportunity will allow the microbrewery to “review” its mission and guidelines, without, however, deviating from its values, it is said.

Contacted by The newspaper, the owners said they were “too shaken up” to explain their decision in more detail yesterday.

This temporary closure applies exclusively to the beer pub. Activities at the plant will continue as normal.
