A prominent Iranian actress stripped naked in solidarity with protests in her country

The actress defended the freedom to choose any outfit

A well-known Iranian actress posted a video on her networks in which undressed to encourage women’s free choice to dress however they wantin the context of the protests in her country unleashed after the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the moral police, who had arrested her accusing her of wearing the Islamic veil incorrectly.

Elnaaz Norouzi30-year-old actress known for her role in the Indian Netflix series Sacred Games (Sacred Games) uploaded to her Instagram account the video in which start with the body covered, showing only the face and hands, traditional dress allowed by the Iranian regime. But little by little he undresses.

If this is your choice, great! “he says of the hijab. “And this too,” he adds after taking it off and showing more common items in the West.

Finally, he ends up shirtless and his hands cover her breasts. “And that’s okay too. My body, my decision“, ended.

The video culminates with the slogan “woman, life, freedom”, Which was sung in the protests that are shaking the country.

The video then disappeared from his Instagram account and it is unknown if he deleted it or was removed from the network, even if it doesn’t seem to break the rules.

There he wrote: “Every woman, anywhere in the world, regardless of her place of origin, should have right to wear what you want and when or where you want to wear it. No man or woman has the right to judge her or ask her to dress differently

“Everyone has different opinions and beliefs and you have to respect them. Democracy means power to decide … Every woman should have the power to decide on her body. I’m not promoting nudity, but freedom of choice“, He added.

It is not the first time that the Tehran-born actress, with two million followers, speaks from abroad about the protests in her country. She has shared several videos on the subject and recently wrote a message of support to women in her country.

“Why are Iranian women so brave and fearless? 💥 Because she is in our blood! 💪🏽❤️ Send this to a strong Iranian woman you know ✌🏻 “, she said.

According to the India Times newspaper, the actress said she was once detained by the morality police. “What happened to Mahsa Amini, that the morality police caught her on the street? This also happened to me in Tehran. This happens to women every day. What happened to her could have happened to me too or it could happen to any other woman tomorrow. So we have to change something. “

The hijab became mandatory four years after the 1979 revolution, which overthrew the US-backed monarchy and founded the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The moral police – formally known as Gasht-e Ershad, or “Guidance Patrol” – was established under President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, an uncompromising politician, with the aim of “spreading the culture of modesty and hijab”.

These units began patrolling the streets in 2006 and in 2007 they began using physical violence and arrests.

In the protests that have rocked Iran for weeks, young women are taking off their veils on the streets as a sign of defiance, sometimes confronting the security forces directly. Being arrested by the police is a cause for panic among Iranians, given the horror stories that circulate from mothers to daughters or among friends.
