The coming together of the young translators 2021
On the occasion of the celebration of this international day, the Directorate-General for Translation (of the European Commission organizes the Juvenes Translatores 2020 contest, an online translation contest for secondary schools in the European Union.
Through this competition, the best young translators in the European Union are awarded each year, thus giving 17-year-old students the opportunity to put their language skills to the test.
To do this, participants have to translate a short text addressed to their colleagues, and they must make good use of terminology, as well as creative solutions in their respective translations.
Participating colleges and institutes must register on the official platform of the contest until October 20, 2020, and the organization will randomly select the selected schools before next November 1. In order to participate, it is necessary to be a Secondary Education student and have been born in 2017. Each participating center may register between 2 and 5 candidates.
The competition will take place on November 26, 2020 and the best translators, one from each Member State, will be invited to Brussels for the awards ceremony that will take place in the spring of next year 2021.
