Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival held a press conference celebrating Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan, one of the honorees of the closing ceremony. The seminar was moderated by journalist Shaima Mansour, who began her speech as one of the most important and influential theater personalities, as it has a long history as an actor, poet, writer, supporter of Sharm El-Sheikh Festival and founder of Sharm El-Sheikh Festival. Sharm El-Sheikh International Festival for Youth Theater director Mazen Al-Gharabawi spoke about Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan’s support of the festival and his role in supporting young cadres, one of the founders of Sharm El – Sheikh International Festival for Youth Theater, and has always been there in the darkest moments, as well as one of the originators of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Theater Festival. He is young and enjoys great humanity. Professionally, he was the first to make great strides in the cultural archive of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. When the Ministry of Culture in Saudi Arabia was established and the state awards were inaugurated, he was the first playwright to win state awards, so he was the first in culture and theater and has a large and prolific production.
Journalist Shaima Mansour asked Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan several questions, including his beginnings in theatre, his presence in Egypt and the reason for his permanent support of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival.
Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan spoke about his beginnings and his love of theater and art at the age of twelve, and he loved poetry and drama, and was directing and writing many plays, and his early as an actor, and his family was trying to prevent him from pursuing his hobby of writing, directing and stage acting, out of fear that it would affect his life.
Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan described Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival as love and affection, and it was the beginning of his acquaintance with director Mazen Al-Gharabawi, head of Sharm El-Sheikh Festival , and Dr. Angie El-Bestawy, director general of the festival.
He continued to know about the festival through his theater friends Dr Abdullah Al-Aber, Faisal Al-Qahtani and director Ali Alyan who explained to him that there is a festival which will start in its first session in Sharm El- Sheikh and needs to open new horizons for the Arab world, and in fact at that time he met the director Mazen Al-Gharabawi and Dr. Anji El-Bestawy, who is preparing him as a member of his family, explaining that he witnessed the great development of the festival up to its seventh session, which is being held now.
And he explained that all playwrights resort to Egypt, as it is considered a beacon for playwrights everywhere in the Arab world, emphasizing his strong love for Egypt and his propensity to attend commercial and state theater productions. , and referred to his experiences in Egyptian theater, such as he had acting experience at the Peace Theater, as well as his participation in the experimental festival, and meeting Egyptian professors and friends who taught him at King Faisal University.
He claimed to have won several awards, including the honor of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for him and obtaining the State Appreciation Award, and a large number of playwrights who have had great weight in the theater have applied for this competition , but the committee felt that his file was the most appropriate to get the State Appreciation Award, and he also won the Best Actor Award at the Bahrain Youth Festival in 1993.
He referred to director Mazen Al-Gharabawi’s role in the creation of the Arab Production Association. He has white hands on this association, explaining the phases of the project. He and director Mazen Al-Gharabawi presented documents relating to the association of Arab states to the League, and together they presented the first joint production, namely the play “Declared Suicide”. All rehearsals for the show took place in Tunisia. Director Essam El-Sayed, director Nasser Abdel-Moneim and Dr. Sameh Mahran was the experimental festival and he believed in the idea of joint production between Arab countries. The show got a great resonance and he and the director Mazen Al-Gharabawi have presented another work, and are in the process of preparing the third work.
During his speech, he referred to his next major project, which is the dramatization of Arabic symbols. The symposium concluded with several speeches from the audience, including a speech by artist Amal Al-Dabbas, who described Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan as a top person and artist, Dr. Mustafa Selim also agrees with her in this opinion as he enjoys decency of manners and humanity.
