This is a rare condition that only 34 such cases have been recorded in more than fifty years of research.”

Dr. Jorge Gerico Araujo said the patient was admitted to the hospital’s gynecology emergency department “with a history of two surgeries previously performed in another institution for ectopic pregnancy.”

After imaging tests, it was discovered that the embryo was still in her body. The embryo was not viable and there was no heartbeat, so an emergency action plan was put into action. The liver is an organ that, when in good condition and with proper care, can recover its structure after a surgical procedure like the one we performed.”
