“The play that went wrong”, the new hit of the drama-puppet theater “Ivan Dimov” in Haskovo, has its Sofia premiere on March 4 in “Tear and Laughter”. The director of the show is Asen Blatechki. On stage are Malin Krastev, Nikolai Urumov, Kalin Vrachanski, Philip Avramov, Rada Kairakova, Dobriela Popova, Isabella Ivanova, Konstantin Nikolov, Stefan Kondrov, Stelian Nikolov. The authors of the text are Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, the translation is by Zlatna Kostova.
The plot follows the daily life of a self-made troupe that is looking for a role for each of its members in the play “Murder at Haversham Manor”. The event quickly turns into an Agatha Christie-esque mystery, but also a disaster. Together, they fight tooth and nail to untangle this tangled crime story to the end, going through a series of difficult and wildly funny problems that arise live in front of the audience without ever being planned. Kalin Vrachanski watched “The Play That Went Wrong” in London some time ago and fell in love with it, not only because it is the most awarded in recent years in the Anglo-Saxon world. After Asen Blatechki read it, he is adamant that he has not read such a funny story in a long time. There are bold technical solutions in the performance, including an elevator on the stage – the ideas and implementation are the engineer Ivan Ivanov from Haskovo, a prominent theater fan.
