A powerful end to the season for Montauban athletics

Montauban Athlétisme was represented at all the French athletics championships this summer to end this great season.

It was the minims who opened the ball on July 2 and 3 with the qualification of Binta Diaby and Victoria Kwarteng for the national final of the minims gold points in Saint-Renan. Both engaged in the triple jump, the length and the 120m, they scored 101 points and 123 points respectively, synonymous with a fine 15th place for Victoria with a new Occitanie record for the 120m in 15”13 (the last dating from 1998 and owned by French international Virginie Michanol).

They were also both selected to represent Occitania in the League Cup in Angers on July 14 where they allowed Occitania to rank 3rd. Note Victoria’s strong performance over 120m, which once again beat her own Occitanie record by lowering it to 14”91.

Then, among the junior cadets on July 16 and 17, in Mulhouse, 6 athletes were present. The 4x100m cadet relay, made up of Kevin Ansoe, Kilian Gastou, Charles Sparkes and Adrien Capdordy, stops in series very close to their record with 44”62. Then, Nathan Sacko will be 9th in the high jump final with 1m94. Finally, Georges Pakeso distinguished himself with a throw of 44m94 in the discus throw to take 2nd place and become French junior vice-champion.

As for hopes, the French championships were held on July 9 and 10 in Albi, where Sacha Quequin represented Montauban in the long jump. He will finish 4th in the final with a jump at 7m30. Finally, at the highest French level, it was Arnaud Dupé-Agot who was present at the France Elite championships in Caen. With several physical “glitches”, he will experience a complicated competition and stops at 2m05 with an 8th place.

Congratulations to all these athletes and coaches present in the four corners of France to represent Montauban. The end of the season heralds a great year to come with, as a bonus, a new 8-lane track to international standards, scheduled for the fall and which will be a real work and performance tool for the athletes.
