According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, the American Consumer Reports Corporation of New York analyzed 28 types of dark chocolate to reveal the levels of lead and cadmium they contain, which cause kidney cancer and bone weakness, while lead causes mental problems in children when exposed frequently.
The study found that 83% of the dark chocolate included in the experiment contained 3 times the allowable levels of cadmium, while containing more than 2.5 times the levels of lead that were safe to eat, and there were 4 types of dark chocolate chocolate inside the analysis.
It is only where lead and cadmium do not exceed safe levels for ingestion.
Cadmium is found in agricultural soils, and cocoa plants absorb it. As for lead, it evaporates into the air from lead mines to attach itself to cocoa beans. These mines are abundant in cocoa-producing countries that produce dark chocolate .
The study showed that lead poisoning for children is remote, as the child needs to eat dark chocolate daily to be exposed to the harms of lead poisoning, the symptoms of which can manifest on the child with frequent leakage and poor concentration.
