A new study finds that consuming hot beverages may help prevent life-threatening health problems.
In the study, published in the journal Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy, researchers revealed the benefits of a tea tree compound that has been shown to improve anticoagulant activity and prevent platelets from sticking together.
“Tea is known for its heart-healthy properties, including lowering blood pressure and antioxidant effects. It also helps protect the heart and brain by reducing clotting,” says Dr. Jill Jenkins, according to the Daily Express.
He added: “This adds to the evidence showing that regular tea drinkers are less likely to develop heart disease or have strokes,” as well as that it improves attention and motor speed and reduces the risk of depression.
The results revealed that drinking three cups of tea each day is ideal. In fact, drinking three cups per day was associated with a 24% lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease.
