Both Capitol police officers – unfortunately one of them – William Evans, who had worked in the Capitol police for 18 years, were not severely injured by the medics.
Pitman says both police officers were taken to hospital and unfortunately one of them has died from his injuries.
The attacker is a 25-year-old man named Noah Green from Indiana, a member of the black nationalist organization Islamic Nation. U.S. media reports that he wrote on the social network Facebook that he lost his job and suffered from mental health problems. He has also called the US government an enemy of black people. The investigation is still ongoing, but law enforcement officials do not yet see any signs of terrorism.
