The Mieszkanie Plus program was one of the flagship PiS governments. During the summer holidays, the government adopted a new draft regarding the program, including completely new: social housing initiatives. How it is supposed to work, explained Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Jadwiga Emilewicz.

Social housing initiatives are a new legal personality – said the minister in an interview with the service Money.pl. Local governments are to be responsible for the implementation of “SIMs”.

As part of such investments, local governments would build cheap apartments for rent. – We would not like to slow down the pace of commercial construction, but add a social construction engine to it, i.e. those who do not want to be slaves to loans, with whom they may have problems with their repayment in a moment, announced the Deputy Prime Minister.

According to the government, both SIMs and other solutions introduced in the Mieszkanie Plus program are one of the elements of the fight against the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The Ministry of Development plans that under all solutions from the program, it will provide local governments with approximately PLN 500 million per year for housing construction.
