A Plovdiv resident, who was walking home last night, fell into a plastic pipe left for drainage. The incident occurred near the stadium in the Komatevo district, the firefighters informed “Maritsa”.
The man was trapped for more than 11 hours in the narrow and long space, with his hands raised. He tried to get out on his own, but because the tube was narrow and long and smooth, he couldn’t. There was no one to help him, as the place is far from residential buildings.
An early riser from Plovdiv, who was walking her dog this morning, heard his cries and immediately called for help.
Two fire brigade teams, an emergency team and a hydraulic team intervened in the rescue operations. The help of an enterprising and responsible resident of the Komatevo district, who arrived with his excavator and dug the space around the pipe to help the firefighters, was invaluable.
The tube was cut, rescuers made a chest strap and pulled the trapped man out. Doctors found the man had only minor abrasions.
The man expressed warm thanks to the duty officer in the city – Chief Inspector Veselin Bradistilov, to the firefighters of the second service: Atanas Apostolov, Marin Tashev, Nikolay Malinov and Georgi Petrov and their colleagues from the SOD sector – Dimitar Trenchev, Nikolay Dimov, Georgy Dimanov and Krasimir Dobranov.
