Sony has already sold 9 million PlayStation 5 game consoles worldwide. But that should have been/could have been a multiple of that. Because eight months after the launch, it still seems easier to get a diamond-studded golden Easter egg than such a game console. ‘Not available’ has been on bol.com for months now, while Coolblue customers have had to make do with ‘Temporarily sold out’. At Game Mania, the largest chain in our country with 22 stores, customers can no longer even place themselves on the reservation list. “Because we have only now been able to help the people who had pre-ordered a console since October 2019 (!) with a copy,” says Game Mania CEO Kris Lenaerts. “Or most of them anyway. We only received consoles of the ‘disc edition’ that included a game as standard (but at an additional cost, ed.). Anyone who chose the console without that game is still on our waiting list.”
