- Tomorrow Friday at 7:00 p.m., with free admission
Morelia, Michoacán, August 22, 2024.- The play Janikua, la pequeña lluvia (Janikua, the little rain) is part of the productions selected for the 2024 State Theater Showcase, which the Ministry of Culture of Michoacán (Secum) will present on Friday, August 23 at the Stella Inda Theater in Morelia, at 7:00 p.m., with free admission.
This play tells the story of Janikua, a girl of Purépecha origin who lives with her grandfather, a traditional healer; on a very important holiday for her community, after two children from the town bother her for her traditions, Janikua renounces her present and runs into the forest where she wishes she could no longer be herself; her words resonate powerfully in the darkness of the night.
Janikua will meet the Guardians Úkuri the opossum, Iótati the giant, Únhurhiri the ocelot and Achoki the lake opossum, who will guide her on a journey of self-knowledge, revaluation of ancestral wisdom and self-awareness, and she will be able to traverse that journey only by listening to her heart.
The Stella Inda Theater is located at Francisco I. Madero Poniente 1200, in the Historic Center of Morelia.
