In a written statement on the Istanbul Greater Municipality case, it was reported that the plant in question was sanctioned and closed twice by the supervisory authorities, as it did not meet the requirements. Although they promised to fix, the restaurant owners continued to serve customers.
The structure is raised on stilts driven into the water. It is suggested that they probably rotted and this caused the collapse. Fortunately, the awning stretched over the platform was not damaged, otherwise there could be casualties.
The injured were taken to hospital without their lives being in danger.
