The SalusCoop cooperative has promoted a pioneering digital platform in which citizens, through a mobile application, can donate their data for health research projects.
This platform allows the donation of citizen data to research centers directly, with security and transparency, and with control of the transfer by the donor, since there are no intermediaries.
In this sense, it is the citizen who decides to whom, when and how to transfer their health data, through a mobile application, has detailed SalusCoop.
The first data donation project focuses on various investigations on COVID-19 that are being carried out by the Terrassa Healthcare Consortium, the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, the Maresme Healthcare Consortium and the Barcelona Global Health Institute ( ISGlobal), a center promoted by the “La Caixa” Foundation.
In this case, the data are of activity and physical location, in addition to facilitating the participation in surveys of the research teams.
The launch campaign to collect data for the investigation against COVID-19 has the participation of actor Jordi Sánchez, who suffered from this disease in a severe way.
This digital initiative, aimed at promoting citizen participation, is supported by the Generalitat, the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), the Mobile World Capital Foundation and the Abacus cooperative, which offers its members the possibility of donating data for science.
