The plane has been grounded since November 12 at Ponta Delgada airport in the Azores after 132 hamsters escaped from the crates in which they were being transported and hid in the baggage compartment of the Airbus 320.
Ground crews tried to capture all the animals for four days, which prevented the flight from returning Lisbon for security reasons.
The day before, 16 rodents, which can chew through electrical cables, were still inside the plane. It is not known when he will be able to fly.
More than a hundred hamsters, ferrets, and several birds were ordered from a pet store and were on their way from Lisbon to Ponta Delgada, but when they landed, baggage collection teams noticed that the boxes had been damaged and that rodents loose in the luggage compartment.
