A Russian Il-76 military transport plane crashed in Russia in the southern part of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war died on the crashed plane, but according to the Ukrainians, the plane was carrying missiles for the Russian SZ-300 air defense systems, there is no mention of prisoners of war, the BBC.
The Russian news agency Ria Novostyi reports that the accident has nine victims in addition to 65 Ukrainians. Russian regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that he knew about what had happened, but did not give any other details. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that on board were 65 captured soldiers of the Ukrainians, who were transported to the Belgorod area for a prisoner exchange.

The Il-76 is a four-engine medium cargo aircraft developed in the Soviet Union at the Ilyushin Design Bureau in the late 1960s. Originally designed for military purposes to replace the An-12 and An-22, it was intended to be used in the medium category lifting 40-50 tons. Finally, they created an aircraft used for other purposes as well.
